To enhance security and improve user experience, SiteCapture is implementing Mobile Device Authorization as part of a broader initiative to protect customer data and prevent unauthorized account sharing. Account sharing can introduce security risks, cause performance inefficiencies, and violate SiteCapture’s Terms of Service.
By ensuring that each user has a dedicated, unique login, Mobile Device Authorization helps maintain data integrity, reduces syncing issues, and improves overall platform reliability. This update aligns with industry best practices and reinforces SiteCapture’s commitment to providing a secure and seamless experience for all users.
Please note: These features will need to be turned on by SiteCapture. When "Mobile Device Authorization" feature is on, each username will only be allowed to have 3 registered devices at a time. Registering a new device will require receiving a code via email and submitting it in the mobile app. If there are already 3 devices registered, the new one will replace the oldest (earliest-registered) device.
1. Skip Mobile Device Authorization
If the user chooses "Skip for now" the app will not remind the user to authorize the device until the next day (or until midnight). When the user taps on "Skip for now" button the app will display a confirmation modal as shown in image 2.
If they press "Continue" they will go through the device authorizations steps (Go to #3 in this guide).
If "Skip Mobile Device Authorization" feature is off, the app won't display the "Skip for now" button. (Go to #2 in this guide)
2. When the user taps on "Continue" button, the server will send a code to the user's email address.
3. The user should check the email they have associated with their SiteCapture user account.
4. Enter the code in the SiteCapture app. If you lose your code or need a new code, tap on the "Resend Code" button to request for the code again. Note that the code is valid for 1-hour.
5. The user will receive a confirmation email that their mobile device has successfully been added. The email is sent from "do-not-reply-prod@sitecapture.com".
