How to add Material and Labor Service Cost Fields

Dynamic Items and Services are premium features. For more information please email support@sitecapture.com.

If you have a service database in SiteCapture that includes material and/or labor costs, you can add material and/or labor cost fields to your templates to calculate material and/or labor sub-totals. You can learn more about setting up your service database here.

You will need to add these fields to a template that has already been configured to support services and includes Line Item Service Cost, Section Cost Total and Project Cost Total fields. For more on how to set up your template(s) to include services see: Dynamically Displaying Services by Category

Setting up your Material Cost fields

Setting up your Labor Cost fields

Setting up your Material Cost fields

1. Create a new draft version of your template that contains services. Within your field group with dynamic items, add a new dollar amount field type. You can name this field for example "Material Cost".

2. The Workflow field type has to be set to "Line Item Material Cost".

3. We recommend this field be Admin Only and Hidden From Field User since it will be automatically generated based on the Service Units amount entered by the user and the Material cost you have entered for that service in your service database.

4. In the same section, add a new dollar amount field outside of the field group named for example "Materials Sub-Total". This is usually at the end of the section near the Section Sub-Total field.

5. The Workflow field type should be set to: Section Material Total

6. We recommend this field be Admin Only and Hidden From Field User since it will be automatically generated based on the Service Units amount entered in each service line item in the section and  the material costs you have entered for those services in your service database.

7. Test your template and publish when you are done making changes. If you need to add Labor Cost fields see below.

8. When a user adds a service line item in the field, the material cost for each line item and a sub-total of material costs for all line items in that section will automatically generate in the fields you added in the steps above.
