Image Validation just got an upgrade! The new version (V2) can use your field's Instructions and Example Photo as context when validating images — and it can evaluate the entire collection of photos together instead of checking each one individually. You control all of this with three simple checkboxes in the task configuration.
✨ What's New
The new version of Image Validation adds three configurable options:
| Option | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Validate using the field's Instructions | The validation considers the instructions written on the field when deciding whether an image passes. |
| Validate using the field's Example Photo | The validation compares submitted images against the field's example photo. |
| Validate against the collection of photos | Instead of validating each photo individually, the validation evaluates all the photos in the field as a collection. |
All three options are off by default, so your existing Image Validations continue to work exactly as before until you opt in.
⚙️ How to Configure It
- Open the task containing your Image Validation, and click to edit the validation or create a new Image Validation task.
- Click on browse to find the field key.
3. Search or scroll to select the field name and key.
4. You'll see three new Options:
- ☑️ Use the field's Instructions
- ☑️ Use the field's Example Photo
- ☑️ Validate on the collection of photos (instead of each photo individually)
5. Check any combination of options that fits your use case.
6. Enter a validation prompt.
7. Save the validation.
💡 Tip: You can enable one, two, or all three options. For example, check both Instructions and Example Photo to give the validation the most context about what a correct image looks like.
📐 Choosing the Right Options
- Use Instructions when your field's written guidance describes what a valid photo must show (e.g., "Photo must show the full panel including the mounting bracket").
- Use Example Photo when seeing is better than describing — the validation will use your example image as a reference for what "good" looks like.
- Validate the full set when correctness depends on the photos together rather than individually — for example, confirming that the collection covers every required angle of an installation.
▶️ Running the Validation
Run your workflow as usual — no other changes are needed. The validation automatically applies whichever options you enabled:
- With full set checked, you'll get one evaluation across all the photos in the field.
- With it unchecked, each photo is validated individually, as before.
❓ FAQ
Will this change my existing Image Validations? No. All three checkboxes are off by default, so existing validations behave exactly as they did before until you enable an option.
Can I combine the options? Yes — any combination works. Check whichever options make sense for your field.
What if my field doesn't have Instructions or an Example Photo? Make sure the field has the relevant content configured before enabling those options, so the validation has something to reference.
