Syncing, Sync Status Screen, and Sync Settings

HOW TO SYNC

A user can sync on both the project list screen or project view screen.

Sync on Project List screen

Tap on sync icon on the top right. The sync icon will spin during a sync. When the sync is complete the sync icon will stop spinning.

Sync on Project View screen

Tap on the sync icon to initiate a sync. When the project is syncing, the icon will spin.

SYNCING STATUSES

Underneath the project list title on the project list screen, you will see the status of your syncing and how many fields and photos are left to sync to the web app. You will see 4 different syncing statuses.

Users can now view their sync status on the project list screen. On each project, users can see the sync status and how many fields and photos need to sync to the web app. The number of photos and fields will count down while a sync is in progress.

SYNC ERRORS

If a sync error occurs, the sync icon will display a red exclamation point in the top right corner. It will also display a "Sync Error" along with the total number of photos and fields that haven't synced yet underneath the "project list". A sync error will also display on the project itself along with how many photos and fields haven't synced yet. Sync errors may occur if you don't have a data connection.

SYNC STATUS SCREEN

Users can visit the sync status screen to see unsynced projects, photos, and fields. Users can also start syncing from the sync status screen. 

1. Tap on the 3 bar icon on the top left. 

2. Tap on Sync Status.

3. Check your data connection, unsynced items, and enable sync settings. Tap on "Issues Syncing" to view this Syncing Guide.

SYNC SETTINGS

Sync settings can be enabled on the sync status screen.

1. Sync on Wifi only: Enable this setting to only sync when connected to wifi. 

2. Optimize Photo Download: Please see this guide

3. Sync Notifications: Turn this on via the sync status screen to receive a push notification if you have unsynced photos and data on your phone and need to reopen SiteCapture to finish syncing.

MORE SYNCING TIPS:

1.  Change your mobile settings to not to let the device go to sleep, as the app needs remain open to sync to the web app (cloud).

2. Syncing does not occur when taking photos or filling out a project. 

3. Check your sync status and if the numbers are all at 0, this means you have completed syncing.

4. Do not log out, before completing a sync. You will lose photos and data if you log out before syncing completely. 

5. Do not share one username between multiple people and devices. This may cause data loss. Please contact your admin who assigns you work if you need a username.
