1. Once you have created a section you are now able to add fields.
2. Click on the + icon under near the section to add a field.
3. Enter the Field Name, Description (optional), Select a Field Type, Validation Type, Workflow Type, and whether you want the field to be required, admin only, photos/videos, and comments allowed.
- Check required if the field must be filled in by a user
- Admin only indicates that the field is only shown to users with Admin access
- Check Photos/Videos if the user is able to add photos and/or videos
- Videos allowed must also be checked if allowing videos
- If allowing Photos, please select the photo resolution
- If allowing photos/videos, select the option for select from device photo album (use default, always allow, or never allow)
- Check Comment allowed if the user is able to add comments to the field
- Copy with projects: the data in these fields will only be copied over if the user checks the box for copy flagged fields

5. Click Save when done. If you want to add an example photo, you must save the field before adding the example photo.
6. A new field can be inserted "in line" by clicking on the 3 dots next to the edit icon. You can also make a copy of the field, copy a different field, or delete the field.
The dimensions represent the size of the images sent from the mobile app. It is the longest dimension - height if in portrait mode, width if in landscape mode.

Field Keys
1. Field keys can be customized or will be automatically generated when you create a new field in the Template Editor. Each field key must be unique within a template.
2. To customize a field key, click on the + icon to add a new field. Enter a unique field key of your choosing and click Save.
3. Field keys are very important when using other features such as Import & Export, Copying a project, and with the API.
Moving Fields
1. Fields can only be moved within the specific section and not to other sections.
2. Hover your mouse to the right of the field you wish to move and you will see 2 dotted lines. Drag and drop the highlighted field to the designated area.
Copy an Existing Field
1. To copy an existing field, go to the bottom of the section and click on the blue copy field icon.
2. A list of all of the current fields in all sections will be displayed. Scroll to the field you wish to copy and click on it.
Example Photos
Example images can be displayed on fields for users in projects in the web app. Only Portal Admins can add example photos in templates. Mobile users can see example photos in the SiteCapture app.
1. Go to Templates and add a new field or edit an existing field where you want to add the example photo. The checkbox "Photos/Video" must be checked. You must save the field, before adding the example photo.
2. After saving the field, open the field again and click on "Upload Example Photo" and upload a photo from your computer. The file must be a JPG file type. HEIC format is not supported.
3. The example photo will appear as a thumbnail. You can Delete or Change the photo.
4. All users will see the example photo when viewing the project in the web app. Below is how it will be appear in the web app. The user can click on the "Example Photo" thumbnail and the photo will open in a modal. The example photo will not be shown in the photo viewer.
How to add clickable fields (phone, emails, web links) in a template
📱 Clickable Fields in SiteCapture Mobile App
Phone numbers, emails, and web links can be tapped directly from your SiteCapture mobile app.
1. Open the Template Editor
📝 Navigate to Settings > Templates and select the template you want to edit.
2. Configure Field Settings in Template
🛠 Action: In the template, set the field to Text or Long Text type and mark it as Admin Only.
3. Add Default Contact Details
📞 Phone — Add your preferred phone number.
✉️ Email — Add your main contact email address.
🌐 Web Link — Add a relevant website URL.
These will be saved as default text so they appear automatically whenever a new project is created.
4. Manually Enter Data in the Web App
💻 Open the project in the Web App.
✏️ Fill out the Phone Number, Email, and/or Web Link fields.

5. Test Clickable Fields in the Mobile App
📲 Open the project in your SiteCapture mobile app.

- 📧 Email → Mail App
- 🌐 Web → Browser

- Use consistent formatting for all phone numbers.
- Test fields on both iOS and Android devices.
- Only Admins should modify these fields.
Comments
